2x - 7 = 3x + 5 \\ - x = 12 \\ x = - 12

If you just want to check then substitute the value


2x - 7 = 3x + 5 \\ 2 * ( - 12) - 7 = 3 * ( - 12) + 5 \\ - 24 - 7 = - 36 + 5 \\ - 31 = - 31
