First, Switch sides,

y-y^1=m\left(x-x^1)

Second, apply the rule a^1=a

y^1=y

m(x-x^1)=y-y

Third, add similar elements: y-y=0,

m(x-x^1)=0

Fourth, using the Zero Factor Principle: If ab=0 then a=0 or b=0

x-x^1=0

Finally, simplify,

0=0

Answer:

Standard form is a way of writing down very large or very small numbers easily. 103 = 1000, so 4 × 103 = 4000
