A map is drawn to a scale 2cm to 100km. On the map the distance between two towns is 2.5cm. What is their true distance apart.

Answer: 125 km

Explanation:

Given

Scale is 2 cm to 100 km i.e. 2 cm of the map is equivalent to 100 k in the true sense

or 1 cm is equivalent to 50 km

If the distance between the two towns is 2.5 cm

so, in their true distance, it is


\Rightarrow 2.5\ cm=2.5* 50\\\Rightarrow 125\ km

The distance between two towns is 125 km
