The given equations are :

  • 3x + y = 9 - [1]

  • y = 2x + 4 -[2]

Plug the value of y from equation [2] into equation [1]

  • 3x + y = 9

  • 3x + 2x + 4 = 9

  • 5x = 9 - 4

  • x = 5 ÷ 5

  • x = 1

Now, plug value of x in equation [2]

  • y = 2x + 4

  • y = (2 × 1) + 4

  • y = 2 + 4

  • y = 6

Explanation:

3x+y=9…... eqn 1

y=9-3x

y=2x+4.... eqn 2

substituting value of y from eqn 1 in eqn 2

  • y=2x+4
  • 9-3x=2x+4
  • 9-4=2x+3x
  • 5=5x
  • x=1

again substituting value of x in eqn 2

  • y=2x+4
  • y=2×1+4
  • y=6

hope it helps.

stay safe healthy and happy.
