Hitler and the Nazis carried out this policy mainly for two reasons:

  • Antisemitism: the first reason is simply anti-Semitism. The Nazis hated the Jewish people, they believed that they had too much economic power, and that this power should be reduced.
  • The need for funds: the main economic goal of the Nazis was to boost the German economy in order to finance a powerful military that would take over most of Europe. To achieve this goal, the Nazis needed every possible source of income at their disposal. and the wealth of individual Jewish families was not an exception to this.

Jewish families hid their money simply because they knew that otherwise it would be taken away from them. They also had important amounts of wealth invested in the form of equity because economy stocks are harder to confiscate than economy flows.
