Hitler was a war veteran of World War 1 and he did some good deeds (saving fellow soldiers), he maintained his facist power by spreading propaganda with lies and he had a lot of people working for him, influencing others to do so too. He also had his opponents murdered or assassinated so others who disagreed with him would be scared and support him instead. It all started when President (or Field Marshal) Von Hindenburg made him the chancellor of Germany. The Reichstag fire decree gave Hitler more power and after that he completely toppled Hindenburg's government.
