The renaissance effected the way people at the thought, by starting the use of reason and rationality over religion and belief. This development of reason began to put man on a different stage. As people began to believe that the powers if the church were solely to blame for the wilting and decay of the religious world. This lead people to start to practice religion in their own way, believing the church or the Pope should have no power over the way they worship. This condition would help leaders of the reformation to rise against and eventually weaken the power of the church. People such as Martin Luther and Calvin utilized the situation to challenge the churches authority. The renaissance allowed the reformation to take root. The reformation would’ve never been possible without the renaissance.
The Reformation was a religious and a political challenge to papal authority promotes by figures like Martin Luther, King Henry VIII, as well as many others. It brought an end to the ecclesiastical unity of Medieval Christianity in Western Europe and it reshaped the course of modern history.
