The reasons and methods I would use to make an effective choice would include:

1. identify the choices for a topic (To have an effective discussion, one would have to come up with effective conversation starters)

2. Have a thorough understanding of the subject (If a person were to start up a conversation and get the people to be involved, it would have to be about something they would know the answers to just in case someone has any questions)

3. Be interested in the subject (Another component that will engage the audience is if you are truly interested in the topic and not simply talking about it because you have to)

4. Persuade the audience to discuss this topic (The last step would be to ask or make remarks that the audience would want to respond to).
