Answer:

Movie: $2.5

Video game: $6

Explanation:

Assume x and y.

Let the cost of a movie = x

Let the cost of a video game = y

1st month: 2 movies + 5 video games = 35

—> 2x + 5y = 35

2nd month: 8 movies + 3 video games = 38

—> 8x + 3y = 38

We now have 2 equations:

2x + 5y = 35

8x + 3y = 38

By solving the equation we get:

x = 5/2, and y = 6

In dollars: x = $2.5 and y = $6.00
