{\pmb{\bf Assumption \: :-}} Let's assume that total no. of students in the school is x

Also , we are given that their are 140 students in 6th grade {Given} and no. of students in 6th grade is 40% of total no. of students in school i.e 40% of x {From Pie Chart} . Mathematically can be written as ;

{\quad \qquad \sf \blacktriangleright \blacktriangleright \blacktriangleright 40 \% \: of \: x = 140}

{: \implies \quad \sf (40)/(100)* x =140}

{: \implies \quad \sf x=(140* 100)/(40)}

After cancelling ;

{: \implies \quad \sf x=350}

So , Total population of school is 350

Hence, Option D) 350 is correct

Answer:

350 students

Explanation:

40% represents the 6th grade.

given:

40% ↔ 140 students

so:

1% ↔ (140/40) students

1% ↔ 3.5 students

therefore total, 100%:

100% ↔ (3.5*100) students

100% ↔ 350 students

There are total 350 students in the school.
