Given:

f(1)=10 and
f(n)=f(n-1)-4.

To find:

The value of f(5).

Solution:

We have,

f(n)=f(n-1)-4

For
n=2,

f(2)=f(2-1)-4

f(2)=f(1)-4

f(2)=10-4

f(2)=6

For
n=3,

f(3)=f(3-1)-4

f(3)=f(2)-4

f(3)=6-4

f(3)=2

For
n=4,

f(4)=f(4-1)-4

f(4)=f(3)-4

f(4)=2-4

f(4)=-2

For
n=5,

f(5)=f(5-1)-4

f(5)=f(4)-4

f(5)=-2-4

f(5)=-6

Therefore, the value of
f(5) is
-6.
