The smaller triangles longest side is 18

Given the longest side of the similar triangle we can divide the longest side of the preimage by the longest side of the similar triangle

So the proportional relationship would be

36/18 or 2

Our next step is to find the the sides of the similar triangle

To do so we multiply the sides of the preimage by 2 (because 2 is the proportional relationship between the two triangles)

12x2=24

8x2=16

and we already know that the longest side measures 36

Now we can find the perimeter by adding all of the side lengths

36+24+16 = 76
