A company that manufactures bicycles has a fixed cost of $90,000. It cost $150 to produce each bicycle. The total cost for its fixed cost and variable cost. Write the total cost, C, as a function of the number of bicycles produced, X. Then find and interpret C(100).

Answer:

C(x)= 150x + 90,000

C(100)= 150(100) + 90,000 = 105,000

Explanation:

90,000 is a cost they have to occur no matter how much bikes they produce and each bike cost 150$.

X is the variable that can change. The 90,000 start up cost cant change. The fact each bike cost 150 cant change but the amount of bikes produce cant.

So C(x) represent total cost

90,000 is where cost begins

X is the variable which is a bike in this case and where cost can increase

150x is the cost of each unit of the variable which is the fact that each bike cost 150$ to make

So

C(x) = 150x + 90,000

C(100) means x = 100

so

C(100) = 150(100) +90,000

15,000+ 90,000 = 105,000
