take the diameter and divide it by 2:

20 ÷ 2 = 10

So now we have the radius and all we have to do is plug that into the formula:

10² = 100

(we're doing 3.14 for pi)

3.14 x 100 = 314

So the area of the smaller circle is 314ft²

Now we gotta do the bigger circle, and since we already have a radius, we can skip a step:

12² = 144

3.14 x 144 = 452.16‬

So the area of the bigger circle is 425.16ft²

But now we have to find the difference between the two areas:

425.16 - 314 = 138.16‬

So the larger pool occupies 138.16 more ft² than the smaller pool
