Answer:

using Thales theorem, we have:

$(17)/(bc) = (12)/(12 + 8) \\ < = > (17)/(bc) = (12)/(20) = (3)/(5) \\ \\ < = > bc = (17 * 5)/(3) = (85)/(3) = 28.3$

=> BC = 28 feet 4 inches
