Answer:

P_semicircle

= 18.84m

P_blueVerticals

= 24m

P_orangebottomV

= 20m

P_total

= 62.84m

Explanation:

The perimeter is the distance around the outside of the shape. Your shape has a round top that's half a circle, a square in the middle and a triangle on the bottom. The lines inside the shape don't count. Like we will only include the left and right sides of the square and NOT the top and bottom. Also NOT the 8 that's inside the triangle.

The circumference of a circle is the perimeter. We are only counting half of the circumference.

C = 2pi•r

1/2 C = 2pi•r/2 = pi•r

The length given in the picture is the diameter. We need the radius. The diameter is 12, so the radius is 6. The first calculation is 6pi.

pi•r = 6pi

They said to use 3.14 for pi.

6pi = 18.84

18.84 is your first fill in.

Next just add the 12+12, which is for the left and right sides of the square.

24 is the second fill in.

The two sides if the triangle are in a V shape at the bottom. We need to add up those as well. 10+10 is 20.

20 is the third fill in.

Add them all together to get the final answer.

18.84 + 24 + 20

= 62.84

62.84 is the last fill in.

Answer:

outer perimeter ≈ 62.84 m

Explanation:

calculate the outer perimeter of each of the 3 parts that make up the figure.

green part is a semicircle with circumference (C) calculated as

C =
(1)/(2) × 2πr = πr ( r is the radius )

here r = 12 ÷ 2 = 6 m , then

P = 3.14 × 6 ≈ 18.84 m

the blue part is a square with 2 outer sides of 12 m

P = 12 + 12 = 24 m

the orange part is an isosceles triangle with 2 outer sides of 10 m

P = 10 + 10 = 20 m

Then outer perimeter is the sum of the 3 perimeters

outer perimeter = 18.84 + 24 + 20 = 62.84 m
