Explanation:

y = mx + b

The graph is crossing the y axis at the point (0,-5) We say that the graph crosses the y axis at -5. That is the b part of the equation.

Say you can only move vertically and horizontally on the graph. If you start at the point (0,-5) and move up one space and to the right 2 spaces, you are back on the line again. This is the slope.

It is the rise over the run or the change in y over the change in x. Our y's change by 1 as our x's change by 2.
