You and your friend are saving money to go on an end-of-the-year school trip. You have $25 in your savings account and add $15 each week. Your friend has $10 in a savings account and adds $15 each week.

a) Write a system of linear equations that represents the amounts of money y (in dollars) in each savings account after x weeks.

b) Will there be a day which you and your friends have the same amount of money in your savings accounts? Explain.

c) If your friend were able to add $29 each week, would there be a day when you and your friend have the same amount of money in your savings accounts? Explain.

a)

b) no, you will never be able to have the same amount because you started off with $25, and the friend started with $10. and you both are putting the same amount away each week which is $15.

c) also no, because although you started off with more, it was $10 more only while the friend is putting in almost twice as much as you each week.
