By substituting the value of y from equation (1) to equation (2)

(x - 5)² + (x - 7 + 7)² = 25

(x - 5)² + x² = 25

x² - 10x + 25 + x² = 25

2x² - 10x = 0

x² - 5x = 0

x(x - 5) = 0

x = 0, 5

From equation (1),

y = 0 - 7 = -7

y = 5 - 7 = -2
