100. Inventory You need to arrange 72 boxes on a skid with

the same number of rows and columns in each layer.
One possible arrangement has 6 layers of 3 rows and
4 columns, as shown. Use the factors of 72 to determine
the possible numbers of rows and columns in an
arrangement of 4 layers. Which of these arrangements
do you prefer? Explain your reasoning.

Answer: Given the Total No. of boxes = 72

Explanation:

We need to find the number of rows and columns for four layers.

= 74 divided by 4 = 18

For 18 we have some arrangement

= (3 rows, 6 columns) (6 rows, 3 columns) (2 rows, 9 columns) and

(9 rows, 2 columns)

For 4 layers, we have a total of 4 numbers arrangement of rows and columns. Which most preferable is (3 rows and 6 columns) because it gives the balance row and column arrangement. It is always preferred that the number of rows should be lesser than the number of columns.
