Ok, so, its bc when you do -3^2, only the 3 is raised to the 2nd power, not the negative, so it would be 3^2, which is 9, and then add the negative, so -9. In (-3)^2, the negative is inside of the parentheses so it's also raised to the negative power, so it 9.
