Math 3rd grade can anyone explain why is 48 ?? I thought that we need to plus 6 top 6 bottom and each side is 8 why 8 because 6+2 is 8

So 6+6+8+8 = 24

Answer:

See, its divided into TWO squares/rectangles.

you have to solve with the numbers you have on each one.

so, for the covered in shade one, you do 6 times 2, which is 12.

for the "not covered" you need to find the second number for the square. Since it has equal sides, the other side will be 6.

for that one you do 6 times 6 which is 36.

now you add both of them.

36 + 12= 48.

You added them, you need to multiply them but do not mix both rectangles/ squares numbers until the end
