The NYC subway system has a total of 850 miles of train tracks, and a NYC subway train has an average speed of 17.4 mph. If you laid all 850 miles of track end-to-end in one big circle, how much time would it take to ride a NYC subway train around the entire circumference of that circle?

Answer:48.85 hr

Explanation:

Given

The length of the train track is
L=850\ miles

the average speed of the train is
v_(avg)=850\ mph

If this track is laid on to a big circle, then the length is equivalent to the circumference

time is taken to cover the circumference is given by

\Rightarrow t=(L)/(v)\\\\\Rightarrow t=(850)/(17.4)=48.85\ hr
