Substitute the variables into the expression.

3(p - 5) + 2s = 3(p - 5) + 2s
3(p - 5) + 2s = 3(12 - 5) + 2(3)
3(p - 5) + 2s = 3(7) + 2(3)
3(p - 5) + 2s = 21 + 6
3(p - 5) + 2s = 27

For this problem all you do is substitute the values of the letters in the equation
3(p-5)+2s
3(12-5)+2(3)=
3(7)+6=
21+6=
27
