Explanation:

{x}^(2) - 6x - 16 = 0

{x}^(2) - 6x = 16

{x}^(2) - 6x + 9 = 16 + 9

There two ways you can go this route.

Route 1

(x - 3) {}^(2) = 25

(x - 3) {} = 5

x = 8

And

x - 3 = - 5

x = - 2

The roots are 8,-2

Answer:

x=-2,8

Explanation:

x2 - 6x - 16 = 0

x²-8x+2x-16=0

x(x-8)+2(x-8)=0

(x-8)(x+2)=0

either

x=8

or

x=-2
