Given:

The figure of a right angle triangle.

To find:

The value of x to the nearest hundredth.

Solution:

In a right angle triangle,

\cos \theta=(Base)/(Hypotenuse)

Using the above trigonometric ratio for the given triangle, we get

\cos 46^\circ=(x)/(8)

0.6947=(x)/(8)

0.6947* 8=x

5.5576=x

Approximate the value to the nearest hundredth.

x\approx 5.56

Therefore, the value of x is 5.56 units.
