Solution:

Note that:

  • 2πrh + 2πr² = Area of cylinder formula
  • Radius = 4 m
  • Height = 8 m

Finding the surface area:

  • 2πrh + 2πr²
  • => 2(π)(4)(8) + 2(π)(4²)
  • => 64π + 2(π)(16)
  • => 64π + 32π
  • => 96π m²

Answer:

SA = 96
\pi

Explanation:

Surface area of closed cylinder = 2
\pir² + 2
\pirh

where r is the radius and h is the height

Given:

  • r = 4
  • h = 8

SA = 2
\pi(4)² + 2
\pi(4)(8)

⇒ SA = 32
\pi + 64
\pi

⇒ SA = 96
\pi
