(25 points) Ricardo wants to mix 1 part yellow paint to 3 parts blue paint to make a certain shade

of green. How many pints of blue paint will be needed if he wants 1 gallon of green paint? Hint:
find out how many pints are in one gallon first.

Answer:

6 pints of blue

Explanation:

note- 8 pints = 1 gallon

Original ratio- 3 parts blue to 1 part yellow ( 3b:1y)

This will make 4 pints if we say that 1 part can be one pint
Ricardo needs 8 pints

Divide the amount needed by how much one portion will make

8/4= 2

Multiply original ratio by 2 to see how many pints of each he’ll need for his new amounts

1y*2= 2 pints yellow paint

3b*2=6 pints of blue paint

So to make 8 pints of green with 3 parts blue to 1 part yellow Ricardo will need 6 pints of blue paint
