Solution

The average rate of change of the height of the ball is given by

(f(b)-f(a))/(b-a)

Here,

\begin{gathered} a=0 \\ b=10 \\ f(a)=f(0)=15 \\ f(b)=f(10)=0 \end{gathered}
\begin{gathered} AverageRate=(f(b)-f(a))/(b-a) \\ AverageRate=(0-15)/(10-0) \\ AverageRate=(-15)/(10) \\ AverageRate=-(3)/(2) \end{gathered}

The average rate is -3/2
