NEED AN ANSWER ASAP!!! WILL REWARD HANDSOMELY!!!

Felicia has a ladder that is 11 ft long. She wants to lean the ladder against a vertical wall so that the top of the ladder is 9.5 ft above the ground. For safety reasons, she wants the angle the ladder makes with the ground to be no greater than 75°. Will the ladder be safe at this height? Answer:

See attached diagram

We have

  • GT = 9.5 ft
  • BT = 11 ft

Let's find angle x and compare with the safety requirement

  • GT/BT = sin x
  • 9.5/11 = sin x
  • x = arcsin (9.5/11)
  • x = 59.7° < 75°

The angle we got is less than 75° so it is safe to use
