Last weekend, Cassidy, Jefferson, and Braden played three basketball games against their cousins, Sammy, Kara, and Mitchell. The chart to the right shows how many baskets each were able to make during their three games. Fill in each blank with a player's name or a number to make each comparison statement true. Below each comparison statement, write a multiplication equation to show that the statement is true

Notice that there is a pair of numbers that correspond to the first statement:

_____ made THREE times as many baskets as Sammy

Since Sammy is reported as with 6 baskets. 3 times that is 3 x 6 = 18 baskets, and the player who did such is: Jefferson.

So please type Jefferson in the first blank. Themultiplication equation wold be given by: J = 3 * S

with J representing Jefferson, and S representing Sammy.

For the second statement:

Cassidy made _____ times as many baskets as Mitchell

Notice that Cassidy made : 24 and Mitchell made : 3

Then Cassidy = 8 times what Mitchell made (3 x 8 = 24)

So complete the blank ny writing "8" or "eight" depending of what form your teacher prefers.

For the multiplication equation we can write: C = 8 * M

meaning that Cassidy (C) made 8 times as many baskets as Mitchell (M).
