Can Somebody Please Help Me????!!!

1) Calculate the average rate of change over the interval from x=−4 to x=3
y=−3x+1

a) -2
b) 6
c) 8
d) 12

2) Calculate the average rate of change over the interval from x=1 to x=3

Answer:

-2 and 12

Explanation:

1) Use distance between points formula


d=\sqrt{(x1-x2)^(2)+(y1-y2)^(2)}

(x1,y1) (x2,y2) = (-4,13) (3,8)


d=\sqrt{(-4-3)^(2)+(13+8)^(2)}


d=\sqrt{(-7)^(2)+(21)^(2)}


d=\sqrt{(-7)^(2)+(21)^(2)}

since rise/run, -(21/7) = -2 so closest average is -2

2) Do the same as first question

You should get around 12
