Males 15% 13% 21% 49%
Females 12% 16% 23% 51%
Total 27% 29% 44% 100%

Compare the conditional relative frequencies of a male preferring swimming to a female preferring swimming. Round your answers to two decimal places.

Answer:

The answer is C, 0.43 to 0.45

Explanation:

(I have the formula for anyone who might have the same problem but different numbers below.)

All you have to do is divide the percentage of men that prefer swimming to the total percentage and then divide the percentage of women who prefer swimming to the total percentage. This works with any of the other sports as well.

21% divided by 49% = 0.4285714285714286

Round to the nearest 2 decimals = 0.43

23% divided by 51% = 0.4509803921568627

Round to the nearest 2 decimals = 0.45

------------------------------------------------------------

Formula:

Male sport preference divided by total row percentage

Round if necessary.

Female sport preference divided by total row percentage

Round if necessary.

(Note: this formula applies any time it asks you for "comparing the conditional relative frequencies of preference."
