Company 2 created 6 new products.

Let:

T=Total of new products.

Q1=Quantity of products created by the company 1

Q2=Quantity of products created by the company 2

The problem tell us Company 1 created 3 times as many products as Company 2, so mathematically:

Q1=3Q2

The total of new products is:

T=Q1+Q2

Since Q1=3Q2:

T=Q2+3Q2

T=4Q2

24=4Q2

Solving for Q2:

Q2=24/4

Q2=6

And the Quantity of products created by the company 1 would be:

T=Q1+Q2

Solving for Q1:

Q1=T-Q2

Q1=24-6

Q1=18
