Given the equation :

y+(1)/(4)x=3

It is required to make the equation in the form :

y=m\cdot x+b

So, solve the given equation for y ( make y alone on the left side )

We need to eliminate the term (1/4)x

as the term (1/4)x was added to y , so we need to subtract this term from both sides

So,

y+(1)/(4)x-(1)/(4)x=-(1)/(4)x+3
y=-(1)/(4)x+3
