(5) Solve;

\begin{gathered} (-x)/(4)=8 \\ \text{Multiply both sides by 4 and you'll have,} \\ (-x)/(4)*(4)/(1)=(8)/(1)*(4)/(1) \\ On\text{ the left side, the 4 cancels out each other} \\ \text{Therefore,} \\ -x=8*4 \\ -x=32 \\ \text{Multiply both sides by -1} \\ -x(-1)=32(-1) \\ x=-32 \end{gathered}

Note that negative x times negative 1 results in a positive answer, that is positive x

(6) Solve

\begin{gathered} (x+2)/(5)=4 \\ \text{Multiply both sides of the equation by 5, and you'll have} \\ ((x+2)/(5))*(5)/(1)=4*5 \\ \text{Just like the previous solution, the 5 cancels out each other} \\ \text{Therefore, you now have,} \\ x+2=20 \\ \text{Subtract 2 from both sides of the equation} \\ x+2-2=20-2 \\ x+0=18 \\ x=18 \end{gathered}
