Let:

y = total amount of fabric

x = number of capes

a = yards of fabric for each Cape

Therefore:


\begin{gathered} y(x)=ax \\ where \\ a=(1)/(3) \\ so\colon \\ y(x)=(1)/(3)x \\ x=96 \\ y(32)=(1)/(3)(96) \\ y(32)=32yd \end{gathered}
