let us solve the equation,

let us use the Substitution method

Substitute y=500+10x in y=100+20x;

we get,

500+10x=100+20x

400=10x

x=40

then,

y=100+20(40)

y=100+800

y=900

thus, x= 40 and y=900.

after 40 weeks they will have the same amount of $900.
