We are given the following equation:

-5+(n)/(2)=-17

To solve for "n" we will first add 5 to both sides:

\begin{gathered} (n)/(2)=-17+5 \\ (n)/(2)=-12 \end{gathered}

Now we multiply both sides by 2:

\begin{gathered} n=2(-12) \\ n=-24 \end{gathered}

Therefore, the value of "n" is -24.
