the length of a rectangle that is four times its width if the decks perimeter is 20 feet what is the decks area

we know that

the perimeter of rectangle is equal to

P=2(L+W)

we have

P=20 ft

L=4W

substitute the given values

20=2(4W+W)

solve for W

20=10W

W=2 ft

Find the value of L

L=4(2)=8 ft

Find out the area

The area is equal to

A=L*W

substitute

A=8*2+16 ft2

the answer is 16 square feet
