We can express the ratio of chaperones to students 1 : 10 as a fraction, like this:

(1)/(10)

By multiplying the number of students by the above ratio, we get the number of needed chaperones, like this:

126*(1)/(10)=(126*1)/(10)=(126)/(10)=12.6

Rounding to the nearest integer, the number of chaperones needed for the trip is 13
