Gayle and Rasheda left their ballet studio at the same time traveling in the same direction (along the same road). Gayle is driving at a speed of 50 mph and Rasheda at 58 mph. How many hours will it be before Rasheda is 24 miles ahead of Gayle?

Explanation:

From the question, we have;

The speed at which Gayle is driving = 50 mph

The speed at which Rasheda is driving = 58 mph

Let 't' represent the time at it will take for Rasheda to be 24 miles ahead of Gayle, we have;

58·t - 50·t = 24

8·t = 24

t = 24/8 = 3

The time that will have gone by before Rasheda is 24 miles ahead of Gayle, t = 3 hours.
