Nanotechnology and the Future

In an earth that is full of cell phones, laptops, PC’s, palm pilots, flat screen televisions, I-pods, EZ pass, and many other gizmos and gadgets, it is hard to imagine our universe becoming even more high-tech. Ray Kurzweil in “Nanotechnology: Reinventing Our Cells,” says that in the future nanobots will be able to “design genetic therapies to improve our cells, and will ultimately be able to replace damaged organs such as the liver and pancreas” (Kurzweil 556). These types of medical advances could very well change the world for the better, especially for people and families who are directly affected by diseases as deadly as cancer and illnesses as exasperating and deadly as diabetes.

If this happens to be true, I might have to change my major or perhaps, become a nanotherapist!
