The given equations are,

4x-8y=9 and 8x-7y=9

The slopes can be determined as,


\begin{gathered} m_1=(-a)/(b)=(-(4))/(-8)=(1)/(2) \\ m_2=(-a)/(b)=(-(8))/(-7)=(8)/(7) \end{gathered}

As, the slope are not equal nor their product is -1.

Thus, they are neither parallel nor perpendicular.
