Notice that:

\cos ((4\pi)/(3))=\cos (\pi+(\pi)/(3))\text{.}

Recall that:

\cos (\pi+x)=-\cos (x)\text{.}

Therefore:

\cos ((4\pi)/(3))=-\cos ((\pi)/(3))=-(1)/(2)\text{.}

Answer:

cos((4\pi)/(3))=-(1)/(2)\text{.}
