Using the Pythagorean theorem, we have three triangles for which we can use the equation

Use equation 2 and equation 3, and solve in terms of y²


\begin{gathered} \text{Equation 1} \\ z^2=y^2+9^2 \\ z^2=y^2+81 \\ z^2-81=y^2 \\ y^2=z^2-81 \\ \\ \text{Equation 2} \\ x^2=y^2+4^2 \\ x^2=y^2+16 \\ x^2-16=y^2 \\ y^2=x^2-16 \end{gathered}

Equate both y², and solve in terms of x²

Substitute x² into equation 1
