Given:

line y= -0.13x + 11.2

Required:

x- intercept

Solution

At the x-intercept, the value of y is zero. We have to set y into zero then solve for x.

y = -0.13x + 11.2

0 = -0.13x + 11.2

0.13x = 11.2

x = 11.2 / 0.13

x = 86.1538= 86.15

The x intercept is at ( 86.15,0)

Yes this is possible in the real-world
