To find out the surface area of the square pyramid, we must do the following:

\begin{gathered} Surface\text{ area pyramid= a}^2\text{ + 2ah} \\ Where\text{ a is the side of the base and h is the height.} \\ a=8\text{ mi} \\ h=\text{ 6.4 mi} \\ a^2=\text{ area of the base.} \\ \\ SA\text{ pyramid= 8}^2\text{ + \lparen2\rparen8\lparen6.4\rparen} \\ SA\text{ Pyramid= 64 + \lparen2\rparen51.2} \\ SA\text{ Pyramid= 64 + 102.4} \\ SA\text{ Pyramid= 166.4 mi}^2 \end{gathered}

The answer is 166.4 square mi.
