Ashley reads 10 pages per day

Carly reads 8 pages per day but she starts early and is on page 40

Let d is the number of days , and p number of pages

Part A : the system of equation will be as following :

Ashley : p = 10 * d

Carly : p = 8 * d + 40

Part B : We need to graph the system of equations :

For the equation of Ashley : p = 10 d

The line will pass through the points ( 0 , 0 ) and ( 20 , 200 )

For the equation of Carly : p = 8 d + 40

The line will pass through the points ( 0 , 40 ) and ( 20 , 200 )

So, according to the points the correct graph is the following :

Part C :what does the point of intersection of the graphs do you enter your answers in the boxes.

As shown from part B : the point of intersection is ( 20 , 200 )

So,

on day 20 , both girls should be on page 200.
