We can write a decimal number in expanded notation like this:

Identify the ones, the tenths, and the hundredths of the number, the one is the first digit on the left of the decimal point, the tenth is the digit one position to the right of the decimal point, and the hundredth is the digit in the second position to the right of the decimal point. According to this, the ones is 4, the tenth is 8 and the hundredth is 2.

Then we just have to set the digits multiplying the ones by 1, the tenths by 1/10 and the hundredth by 1/100, like this:
